Police officer to stand trial

A Dundee police officer is to stand trial accused trying to headbutt a colleague outside a Dundee casino and resisting arrest.

Craig Tosh, 43, a community police officer at Ardler, denies behaving in a threatenin­g or abusive manner on December 18 2016 at the G Casino, West Marketgait, by shouting and swearing, acting aggressive­ly, threatenin­g violence and repeatedly challengin­g Greig Hamilton and Steven Zielinski to a fight.

He also denies assaulting PC James Buchanan by repeatedly pushing him on the body and resisting arrest by four officers trying to handcuff him.

The charge alleges that Tosh struggled violently, repeatedly shouted and swore, threatened them with violence and attempted to fight them, before attempting to break free and refusing to enter a police vehicle.

He further denies assaulting PC Kieran Bradley by grabbing him by the clothing and assaulting PC Buchanan by lunging at him with clenched fists, attempting to butt him and threatenin­g him with violence.

Co-accused Natalie Finnon, 39, denies behaving in a threatenin­g or abusive manner at West Marketgait on the same date. She is accused of acting aggressive­ly, shouting and swearing at police officers and making threats towards them all, as well as attempting to prevent Tosh’s arrest.

A trial date was set for February 20.
