Tickets are now on sale for a new Angus festival celebrating the best of Scottish crime fiction.

Crime at the Castle, launched by Dundee author Wendy H Jones, will take place in February at Glamis Castle and will be a celebration of ‘tartan noir’, a genre that has kept millions of fans across the globe gripped in recent years.

It has brought about a wave of festivals throughout Scotland, including Bloody Scotland in Stirling, Granite Noir in Aberdeen and Bute Noir in the Firth of Clyde.

“Scotland’s newest and most unique” of these will host some of the nation’s best crime writers, including Val Mcdermid, Denise Mina and Alex Gray.

After leaving school, Wendy, who has published five books in three years, joined the Royal Navy and undertook nursing training before serving in the army for 17 years.

Having lived in Hong Kong, Germany and Israel while in the army, Wendy left to pursue an academic career, lecturing in nurse education.

Shortly after, she decided to try her hand at writing fiction and has since topped various best-seller lists such as on Amazon.

Wendy also organised the Noir At the Bar event at Braes Bar on Perth Road, Dundee, in July.

Including Wendy, the Glamis line-up will feature 16 top authors from across the country and will see a mixture of talks, interviews and writing workshops take place.

The festival will take place on February 24 2018 with tickets costing £55.
