Thingummy Bob

A hit at the Luminate Festival of Creative Ageing in 2015, Lung Ha Theatre Company’s production of Linda Mclean’s Thingummy Bob returns for a new national tour this month.

A humorous riff on a One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest scenario, it looks at the effects of dementia with warmth and tenderness, introducing us to care home resident Bob, who is on a mission to break out of the home and find his thingummy. He isn’t sure what that is, but he’ll know it when he sees it.

Lung Ha’s is an awardwinning Scottish theatre company of more than 30 years’ standing, which works with actors and theatremakers with learning disabilities.

For this production – directed by Lung Ha artistic director Maria Oller – it introduces Gavin Yule, an actor most recently seen in the company’s co-produced Dr Stirlingshire’s Discovery at Edinburgh Zoo last year, to a cast of characters which includes Bob’s two young helpers and the nurse and allseeing CCTV system who watch over him.
