Friends raise money to give Jack fitting send-off

-

Friends of tragic Carnoustie teenager Jack Scorgie are raising money to help pay for his funeral.

Dundee and Angus College student Jack, 17, died at a first-floor property in Carnoustie’s Barry Road on Sunday morning.

Jack’s friends in the town have now rallied round to make sure the popular teenager gets “the best send-off possible”.

Tommy Hawthorne from Carnoustie has started a fundraising page with a target of £3,000.

He said mixed emotions fill the hearts of everyone that was touched by Jack who was described as “the life and soul of every party”.

Tommy said: “We must all come together to make sure Jack gets the best send-off possible. As close friends and family deal with the loss of one of the nicest, kind-hearted young men in Carnoustie, we, as members of the community, need to do our bit.

“We are looking to raise funds to help the family with funeral costs and any other expenses necessary. Jack was loved by his family and friends and will always be remembered as the life and soul of every party, with a cheeky smile to go with an attitude that could lighten up any room.”

Hundreds of pounds had already been raised within the first few hours of the page being shared on social media yesterday.

Police said the death is unexplained and that a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
