Renewed hope for Spiders ahead of Dunbar clash

Tayport and Saints target victories to get Premier campaigns back on track

- By

After ending a run of four games without a win with a fine victory over Bathgate last week, Downfield head for Dunbar today with renewed confidence.

Their Lothian hosts, who won promotion last season, have only tasted victory once at home and the Spiders will be looking to continue that trend.

Boss Paul Marr has a full squad available.

Tayport are away to Bathgate in a game that the Canniepairt side badly need to win to stay in touch with the leading pack. However, Danny Sanchez is unwell and Jamie Gill is a 50-50 doubt.

Having drawn three of their last four games, St Andrews’ promotion hopes have stuttered, so Saints boss Craig Morrison will be looking for his troops to get back to winning ways at Dalkeith Thistle.

The Lothian side have won only one of their five home games and lost the rest.

Glenrothes head to Blackburn in good strength heart with convincing home wins over Kirrie Thistle and Tranent under their belts.

Dion Gear returns to the squad which includes new signing Chris Lornie. He has played as a trialist in the last two games and proved influential when coming off the bench. Craig Wallace is expected to recover from injury but Sean Simpson is again doubtful.

Thornton Hibs will be hoping to see action at Fauldhouse United after last week’s game was postponed,

It is a difficult assignment away to a side sitting second and well in the hunt to bounce back to the Super League at the first time of asking.

Defeats in their last two outings have pushed Kirrie Thistle into the drop zone ahead of their trip to bottom side Arniston.

The Lothian side may still await their first league win, but they have eliminated St Andrews from two cup competitions and twice came from behind to earn a point against Saints last week, so Thistle can take nothing for granted.

Frankie Lannen begins a three-match suspension for the Westview Park side.
