More concerns for injury-hit Brechin Vics

-

Brechin Vics boss Phil Mcguire was left wondering when his team will have a bit of luck.

The former St Andrews United manager saw his side go in 2-0 in front at home to Dundee North End but then saw the visitors capitalise on Vics’ misfortune with injuries to come back to win 5-2 through a Ryan Hunter brace alongside goals from Nathan Scott, Andy Ballantine and Martin Szpak.

Mcguire said: “We are now really struggling for next week’s Scottish Cup tie. After today we have two cruciate injuries, a fractured cheekbone, a torn hamstring, two ankle ligaments and concussion and a thigh muscle tear.”

Coupar Angus twice led Blairgowrie in the first half but Mark Brash’s Blair came back and eventually won 4-2 at Foxhall Park with Darren Neave hitting a hat-trick for the second week running alongside a Matty Adam strike.

Alex Gibb put Coupar in front on 10 minutes only for the visitors to equalise on 18 minutes.

Four minutes later the home side were back in front through Euan Mcilvenney only to be pegged back a second time three minutes later.

The visitors then went in front on 34 minutes to lead at half-time. Blair then made sure on 67 minutes and took all three points.

Luncarty remain top of the league despite being held to a 0-0 draw at Craigie Park against Dundee East Craigie.

Dundee Violet missed out on the chance to return to the summit after they were held 1-1 at home by Kinnoull.

The Pansies took the lead just before the half hour, but Mark Smith levelled 10 minutes before the break and despite chances for both sides the scoreline remained level.

Scone Thistle have joined Luncarty and Violet at the top following their 7-0 win at Forfar Albion who had new boss Mark Caldwell in charge for the first time.

Arran Mckay put the Jags in front on eight minutes. Ross Mitchell made it 2-0 on 39 minutes before Mckay added a third three minutes later and Mitchell made it four in firsthalf stoppage time.

The Thistle man completed his hat-trick just after the restart, then Charlie Fertacz in the 61st minute and Ben Moffat nine minutes later completed the scoring.

The Lochee Harp v Arbroath Vics and Newburgh v Lochore Welfare games were postponed.
