MONTROSE: At the latest meeting of GSK Retired Staff Associatio­n Montrose branch, speaker Sandra Thomson of the family firm of Mcgregor Balfour (Textiles), Dundee gave a talk on her family’s involvemen­t in the jute industry, both in Dundee and Calcutta.

The next meeting will be a bingo afternoon at the Links Hotel on Tuesday next week at 2pm.

ARBROATH: Police Scotland Youth Volunteers from Arbroath were recently visited by Constable Blair Wilkie who is Tayside Division’s wildlife crime liaison officer.

The youth volunteers received input from Blair on the work carried out in Tayside investigat­ing crime against animals and providing advice to uniformed officers to assist them with their inquiries.

Using slides and props such as legal and illegal traps, Blair demonstrat­ed some of the acts of cruelty with which they deal.

MONTROSE: Police in Montrose are appealing for informatio­n after damage was caused to a parked car.

A black Audi A6 sustained damage as a result of vandalism while parked on Main Road, Hillside, sometime between 1pm and 4.30pm on Sunday October 15.

Police would like to hear from anyone who has knowledge of this incident or may have seen anything. They are urged to contact any officer or call 101 quoting CR/026938/17.
