FORFAR

Forfar East & Old Parish Church will be hosting a gala concert of classical, Scottish, modern and oratorio music next Saturday at 7pm.

Entry is £7, including refreshmen­ts.

Steph Chapman, representi­ng the largest internatio­nal anti-slavery organisati­on in the world, will also be speaking at the church on Sunday evening at 6.30.

KIRRIEMUIR:

The results of last week’s whist drive in the Northmuir Hall, Kirriemuir were – 1 Mr Jim Lawson, 2 Mr Alex Cochrane, 3 Mrs Muriel Smith; booby prize – Mrs Linda Wells.

The next whist drive at the Northmuir Hall will be held on Wednesday November 8.

ARBROATH: Arbroath Lifeboat Guild notched up a major fundraisin­g success with its first RNLI fish supper evening at the town’s Bell Rock restaurant, raising £1,186.

A Christmas card sales weekend takes place today and tomorrow from 10am to 4pm in the RNLI shop at the harbour.

The Guild ladies dinner will be held on November 10 at the Meadowbank Inn, tickets available by contacting 01241 874066, and the RNLI Christmas craft fair is scheduled for November 23 at the Royal British Legion.

DANCING: Peter Bruce played 17 dances for the company at Old and Abbey Church hall, including Dink One Step, Edinburgh Mixture and Ian Powrie’s farewell to Auchterard­er.

Stephen Carcary will play from 7.30pm to 10pm on November 12, all welcome.

MONTROSE: Montrose Natural History and Antiquaria­n Society will hold their next meeting in Montrose Museum at 7.30pm on Tuesday November 14.
