Lasley extends service at Fir Park to 19 years

-

Assistant manager Keith Lasley has extended his contract at Motherwell to 2020, matching boss Stephen Robinson’s own recent extension.

The 38-year-old, whose deal will take his Fir Park service to 19 years, told the club’s website: “Once it was offered to me it didn’t take too much thinking about.

“It’s been a fantastic start for myself in the role and a lot of hard work too, which will continue to be the case.

“But I’m loving every minute of it and I’m just determined to continue to work hard for the manager and for the club.”

Well face Hibs today with wide player Elliott Frear back in contention after being hit with a succession of injury and illness blows last month.

The former Forest Green winger had an impressive start to the season but was then floored by a series of fitness issues while Robinson’s men continued their impressive form.

Frear found himself confined to substitute appearances and stayed on the bench during the Hampden win over Rangers, but he delivered a manof-the-match display in Wednesday’s 1-0 win at Dundee in his first start for two months.

“You can tell from the squad of players we have got first-team players throughout the squad, so when you get called upon you have to take your chance,” the 27-year-old said.

Hibs, still basking in the glory of the midweek derby win over Hearts, will still be without midfielder Danny Swanson, who has a knee problem.

Striker Anthony Stokes (ankle) is rated 50-50 after also missing the derby in midweek.
