Teens de­tained in connection with fire at Aberdeen school

Four teenagers have been de­tained in connection with an in­ci­dent of wil­ful fire rais­ing at a dis­used school build­ing in Aberdeen.

Po­lice said three youths aged 15 and one aged 14 will be re­ported fol­low­ing a blaze at Cordyce School in Dyce.

Crews from the Scottish Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice were called to the blaze at around 11pm on Mon­day.

Six ap­pli­ances were sent to the scene and more than 30 fire­fight­ers took about three hours to bring the flames un­der con­trol.

Po­lice Scot­land of­fi­cers also at­tended.

De­tec­tive In­spec­tor David Howieson said: “The build­ing has been ex­ten­sively dam­age and it goes with­out say­ing that this could have been a much more se­ri­ous in­ci­dent.

“Thank­fully no one was in­jured.

“We urge any­one who saw any­thing or has any knowl­edge which may as­sist our in­quiries gets in touch with us on 101.”
