Boost for Saints as injury list improves

St Johnstone’s injury situation has significantly improved ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Hibs, writes Eric Nicolson.

Defender Brian Easton is the only definite non-starter, with the international break having come at the right time for four others.

“The injury situation has picked up,” said manager Tommy Wright.

“Scougall, Millar, O’halloran and Davidson have all trained. Easton is the only one being counted out.

“It’s good to have one or two back and the break has helped us this time.”

Hibs have won four games in a row – form that contrasts sharply with Saints’ six matches without scoring.

Wright could tell by Neil Lennon’s summer recruitment that the Easter Road side were going to hit the ground running on their return to the Premiership.

He said: “It is a tough place to go. Lenny has done incredibly well.

“I did say they would be a force this year because he has recruited well and he is a very good manager.

“He took Danny Swanson – our best player last season – off us and he has brought in international players, players that have won leagues and cups.

“He has been able to get Barker from Man City, he has Mcginn flying and he has secured the likes of Whittaker, Ambrose and Stokes.

“He has a strong squad and they have a good track record at home.

“But we are looking forward to the game. It doesn’t matter what sort of run we are in

– and I accept it is poor – I always believe we can win the next game.

“This is no different. We believe we can go there and get a result.”
