Stage is set for panto in Perth
Christmas in Perth will be more magical than ever this year with the transformed Perth Theatre taking centre stage!
Perth Theatre will mark its official reopening with family panto Aladdin on Saturday December 9. Perth panto dame Barrie Hunter and heroes Aladdin and Jasmine are calling on everyone to help stop body-popping, break-dancing baddy Abanazer from winning the panto!
Written by Joel Horwood and directed by Lu Kemp, the foot-stamping, toe-tapping Perth festive tradition will be packed with songs, fun and laughter. There are plenty of chances to catch Perth Theatre’s homecoming panto in the glorious restored auditorium as it runs until Saturday January 6.
The festivities continue in Perth Concert Hall with Handel’s Messiah by Perth Choral Society with the City of Perth Sinfonia. Dunedin Consort performs Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and Scottish Ensemble presents an evening of sound and light in the atmospheric St John’s Kirk in A Winter Chorale: Concerts by Candlelight.
Children and adults alike will be entranced by a screening of The Snowman accompanied by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Little ones will love Santa’s Funtastic Factory, the new show from the Funbox team.
Phil Cunningham and his musical pals will reopen their Christmas Songbook for a night of modern and traditional Christmas music. Red Pine Timber Co gets the New Year celebrations off to a rocking start in an exciting pre-hogmanay gig. The Scottish Chamber Orchestra brushes off the Christmas festivities with a New Year Gala Concert of waltzes and polkas.
And with Perth Theatre Box Office, Café and Bar now open, locals can test out the transformed venue before it takes off with the panto on December 9! For tickets and information visit www.horsecross.co.uk or call 01738 621031.
