Dods spots attacking change in Tangerines

- ERIC NICOLSON

Csaba Laszlo has already put his stamp on Dundee United, according to Darren Dods.

The Brechin City boss believes the Tangerines side his men will take on today is likely to be more forwardthinking than the one they narrowly lost to at Tannadice earlier in the season.

“They seem to be a lot more attacking,” said Dods. “Their full-backs were higher up.

“Against Falkirk, Jamie Robson was whipping the ball over, with Stewart Murdoch at the back post and the same the other way round.

“They’re getting a lot more players in the box. You could see six or seven in there at times on Sunday. They seem happy to go with two v two at the back sometimes.”

After clinching their first win of the season, though, Dods’ own team are also on a high.

“We were playing into a hurricane in the second half last weekend (against Buckie Thistle),” he said, “and the players battled really well.

“They showed a lot of character and will take confidence from the win.”

Unfortunately a waterlogged pitch in Inverness didn’t give them the chance to back up that victory in midweek.

Dods said: “We were just past Perth when we heard that the game was off.

“Players had taken a half-day off, so it wasn’t ideal. At least we were able to have a training session at Mcdiarmid Park.”

Brechin have a big Scottish Cup pay day to look forward to after drawing Celtic away in the Scottish Cup.

The players themselves are also excited by the prospect of a trip to Celtic Park.

Dods said: “The boys were all taking about it on the bus on Tuesday night and will be a big occasion for us when it comes round.”

Gary Fusco is 50-50 to play today, said Dods, but Connor Mclennan returns.
