Festive fun in Letham and Forfar

-

Letham Feuars will again be hosting the switch-on of the village Christmas lights on Friday from 6pm in The Square, with the help of Santa and the local Brownies.

This is Santa’s first visit to the village this year. He will return to help with the Santa collection on December 19 and 20, when everything collected is divided between village organisations.

Feuars committee secretary, Isobel Sword, said Christmas was a real community effort.

“The lights and collection could not happen without the wonderful volunteers who help the village, especially Ewan Cameron,” she added.

Christmas Eve in the village will again be celebrated with carols led by Forfar Instrumental Band, with mulled wine, homemade mince pies and sausage rolls from 7.30pm.

Meanwhile, in Forfar, the 2nd Forfar Boys’ Brigade and 6th Forfar Scout Group are gearing up for their annual Christmas card delivery service.

All boxes will be in place on Friday and delivery will cost 25p per card.

The last posting date will be Tuesday December 14.

Boxes will be in shops, as well as churches and sheltered housing complexes.

The town’s rotary club has also begun its Santa’s sleigh collections, which set off last night and will run until Thursday December 7.

Santa will take a break from the tour to be at the Christmas lights switch-on at the Cross on Thursday evening from 6pm.
