Talented local skaters in national action

-

Three up and coming Dundee figure skaters were in action on day two of the national championships in Sheffield.

Competing in the Basic Novice B Championship (under 15 and at least level six) were Marlana Storrier and Poppy Ashton.

Going up against 32 other British skaters, Marlana posted a score of 31.17 points to finish the event in 18th place, while Poppy placed 32nd with 25.14 points.

Coach Simon Briggs said: “Both skaters show great potential for the future, and we are looking forward to what is to come for these young developing skaters.”

In the Advanced Novice Ladies Championship Short Program (under 15 and at least level eight), Sophie Bole represented Dundee.

She posted a score of 23.34 points to finish this segment of the championship in 13th place.

Sophie will once again take to the ice in Sheffield in the Free Program. With only four points separating 13th and 3rd places, there is much to skate for.

Briggs said: “Sophie has shown great progress throughout the last year, and we are pleased with the skate that she has put down today. She has great potential for the future, and we know she will go out to produce a strong skate tomorrow.”

Today also sees the start of the Junior Ladies Championship, with the Short Program.

Great Britain Performance Team member Anastasia Vaipanlaw will be competing, as will fellow Dundee team members Nikita Heathfield and Sara Keracher.
