-

Jonny Adam has added national silverware to the trophy cabinet which contains the Le Mans 24 Hours winner’s trophy which was the highlight of a sensation season for the flying Scot.

At the end-of-year black tie bashes for both the Scottish Motor Racing Club and the British Racing Drivers Club, Aston Martin factory driver Adam was honoured for the part he played in the British marque’s thrilling last-gasp win at the Circuit de la Sarthe in June.

Adam partnered Englishman Darren Turner and Brazilian Daniel Serra to victory in the GTEPRO category, with the 33-year-old Kirkcaldy-born racer taking the number 97 Vantage to the chequered flag after taking the lead of the race with just one lap remaining.

At the SMRC dinner, Adam picked up the Callands Trophy for the best performance by a Scot in an international championship, before heading south to take the spotlight in the BRDC annual prizegiving.

There the two-time British GT champion – who became the driver with the most wins in the GT3 class en route to third in the 2017 standings – claimed two inter-national awards.

He and Aston Martin Racing co-driver Turner were presented with the Woolf Barnato Trophy for the highest-placed British drivers racing a British car at Le Mans.

Adam who also became a Blancpain GT Series champion this year, then collected the magnificent Fairfield Trophy for the outstanding performance by a BRDC member.

“It’s been a mega year and the Le Mans win was obviously the highlight,” he said. “It’s a great honour to be recognised for our achievement in number 97, flying the flag for Britain as drivers in a British car.”

Adam has been involved in the development of the new Aston Martin Vantage GT3 for the 2018 campaign.
