Innovative Navigogo scheme

-

A new transport scheme for young people has been launched in Dundee.

The Naviggogo pilot was launched in October this year across Dundee and north Fife.

Using Navigogo, people taking part in the pilot can plan and pay for their buses, trains or taxis via a mobile phone app.

They can also hire bikes that have now been distributed across Dundee, including at the train station and outside the Wellgate.

A total of 100 people aged between 16 and 25 are taking part in the pilot.

Navigogo is being delivered by a consortium led by ESP Group and includes Mudlark, National Entitlement Card (NEC), Route Monkey, Systra and Young Scot.

The project received funding from Innovate UK to develop a Mobility as a Service (Maas) platform to make it easier for young people to travel.

Navigogo also provides information on single fares and change required for buses as well as availability of car clubs.

The healthy and sustainable options are linked to Young Scot Rewards to encourage their use.

Dr Steve Cassidy, director of ESP Group, said: “Since the trial started in October it has been a great success and has seen our first group of young people benefit from its services.

“The trial marks a turning point for the transport industry: placing the young person at the heart of the project which was codesigned with 16-25 year olds.”
