Man suffers head injuries in collision near Tealing

-

A man has suffered head injuries in a crash involving a car and a van on a busy stretch of road in Angus.

The collision took place just before 7am yesterday on the A90 at the Murroes junction, near Tealing. The vehicles involved were a red Renault Clio and a white Transit van.

A 25-year-old man was treated by an ambulance crew at the scene for head injuries.

An ambulance spokesman said two crews were sent to the scene and two patients were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

Their conditions were not known last night.

One eyewitness who passed the incident said it looked “pretty nasty”. She said: “As I was driving south I became aware of blue lights flashing ahead of me on the northbound carriageway of the road.

“As I got closer, I could clearly see two vehicles had been involved in a collision.

“It looked pretty nasty – I really hope that everyone involved is going to be all right.”

She said the Transit van was on the verge facing on to the dual carriageway and a car was positioned sideways across one lane of the road.

“It looked to me like the vehicles might have been involved in a collision at the crossing point in the middle of the road,” she added.

“There were several emergency vehicles there but because it was so dark it was hard to make out what was involved, although I definitely saw several police vehicles and other emergency vehicles with blue lights which were racing to the scene.

“There was also a huge tailback of cars on the road – although the cars did seem to be getting through slowly.”
