Shire targeting rise up ranks to mark 150th

-

Perthshire: It’s been an odd sort of year for `Shire with a tough campaign and relegation from National Three in the spring only for a reprieve to come as a result of the de-merger of RHC.

The club also lost head coach Rory Mckay but were pitched back back into National Three again this season, and despite early struggles they’ve moved out of the bottom places in the division and started to look competitive again.

Next year marks the 150th anniversary of the club with activities due to start up in May, and there would be no better way to mark it than to secure National League status under their own steam this time. Caledonia League One:

Strathmore have emerged this season as premier Midlands challenger to step into National League rugby, lying just a point behind leaders Caithness at the current stage.

The Forfar club have replaced Glenrothes – who they meet if the weather permits at home this weekend – with the Fifers still not out of the race in the Division this year after finishing third in last season’s campaign.

Dunfermline and Harris Academy FP are loitering at the bottom end of the division but under no threat from relegation.

In Caley Two, Blairgowrie’s SRU Bowl final appearance in the spring was a clear signal that the club was thriving and it’s been followed up in this year’s league campaign with 10 successive wins scoring at nearly 60 points a game.

Carnoustie HSFP are enjoying a strong season but it’s been a tough year for Morgan, a National League Two club just a handful of seasons ago, now bottom of Caley Two.
