Discovery reaches the spots other commercials can’t

Need a van that can get you very far from civilisation? Then Land Rover has just the thing for you.

It has launched the Discovery Commercial. Featuring 1,856 litres of load space – which replaces the second and third-row seats found in conventional models – the vehicle is aimed at commercial drivers who still want “premium levels of comfort and entertainment”.

With Land Rover’s legendary mud-plugging prowess, it’s also pitched at those who need the best off-road vehicle in the business. The Discovery Commercial opens at £40,333 (+VAT), which gets you an S model with 19in alloy wheels, leather seats, air-conditioning and the Incontrol Touch Pro package. On top of this, cruise control, a speed limiter, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Lane Departure Warning are all standard.

Step up to the SE for a £4,600 premium and there’s an upgraded stereo, Navigation Pro sat-nav, automatic high beam assist headlights and two-zone climate control. At this level, Land Rover also throws in a Wi-fi hot spot.

Finally, the HSE (a £5,200 upgrade over the SE) adds 20” wheels, keyless entry, a rear-view camera and various other tech features.

All models are fitted with four-wheel drive, automatic transmission, twin-speed transfer box, air suspension and a full-size spare wheel. Land Rover’s Incontrol Touch Pro multimedia system also comes fitted as standard.

The Discovery Commercial retains the look of the passenger car versions on the outside with ‘rear window concealment panels’ sitting behind privacy glass. That makes it virtually indistinguishable from the passenger version, though owners can opt to have their Discovery Commercials liveried to enjoy free advertising as they go about their business.

The space in the back is 1,635mm long, 939mm high and 1,411mm wide.

The Discovery Commercial is available to order now with first deliveries in the second quarter of 2018.
