Young stresses need to convert chances

-

East Fife manager Darren Young will make his first trip back to former club Albion Rovers this afternoon.

“I am looking forward to going to Cliftonhill and seeing a few people I have not seen since the summer,” he said.

“It was disappointing how things ended up when I was not offered a new contract. But in my three seasons there we won League Two and twice came close to the play-offs for promotion to the Championship.”

Young has already faced the Coatbridge side as the boss of East Fife. It was a memorable afternoon as his side scored twice in injury time to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 win.

The Bayview boss said: “I had the Rovers watched at Stranraer on Tuesday night and the report I got back was that they played well, so this will be a tough afternoon.

“However, if we play for the 90 minutes to the same standard as we did for the first 45 against Ayr last weekend we have a good chance.

“We were terrific against the best side in our league just now for that first half.

“We were one goal up but we should have been out of sight. Our familiar failing of not converting chances into goals came back to hurt us.

“We just need to play at that level for the full game and score when we have the chance.”

Craig Watson is out, with Kyle Wilkie, Paul Willis and Chris Duggan doubts.
