Missing pooch Molly reunited with owners

Back home: ‘Mummy’s wee fighter’ found safe and well and returned home after 12 days on the run

A runaway dog that had been missing from its home in Fife for 12 days has been reunited with its relieved owners.

Molly, a female white shit tzu cross, vanished from the Inchkeith Drive area of Dunfermline on Saturday December 23, sparking a desperate plea on social media from her owner Robyn Ferguson.

As the days passed and the number of possible sightings grew, a series of organised searches were carried out around the town by volunteers, but Molly continued to evade her would-be rescuers.

However, Robyn and her partner Sean Nobile never gave up hope and the pair were delighted to receive news on yesterday that their “wee girl” had been found.

“After 12 days she just appears – I can’t believe it,” Robyn said.

“She’s now back home from the vets and although she’s obviously underweight and has an eye infection – other than that she’s perfect. “She’s mummy’s wee fighter. “I’ve never been so happy in my whole life.”

Robyn reckons Molly must have been spooked by something before she disappeared but only the little dog knows what kind of an adventure she was on in the 12 days that followed.

A convoy of cars was mobilised on Boxing Day from St Columba’s School car park as part of the effort to try to find the lost pet, but searchers drew a blank.

Molly had been spotted in the Duloch and Abbeyview areas of town, but was eventually found near the old Hyundai factory site across from the Amazon fulfilment centre.

Robyn has returned to social media to thank the scores of well-wishers and volunteers who helped in the search for Molly over her frantic festive season.

Groups including Fife Dog Rescue and Rehoming and Dana’s Angels were among those who took part in the quest, while scores of other people shared Robyn’s pleas for help to find Molly.
