Cash machine explodes

A suspected thief is in a critical condition after an explosion at a cash machine.

Police were called to the incident on Thursday night outside a row of shops on Glasgow Road in Clydebank.

A 51-year-old man was found at the scene and taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where his condition is described as critical. Another man was spotted fleeing the area. Police believe the men may have been attempting to steal the cash machine at the time.
