Aurtenetxe commits to Dens until summer

Dundee boss Neil Mccann has extended defender Jon Aurtenetxe’s deal at the club until the end of the season.

The former Athletic Bilbao leftback joined the Dark Blues in August but had to be patient for his chance in the first team with Kevin Holt the incumbent in his position.

Aurtenetxe was finally handed his first start against Kilmarnock in November and has gone on to establish himself as one of the first names on Mccann’s team sheet.

The 26-year-old Basque has now put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at Dens until at least the summer.

Earlier this week, Dundee signed French keeper Jérémy Malherbe.

Meanwhile, former Dundee winger Danny Williams has joined English League 2 side Accrington Stanley.
