Loons striker Hilson ruled out with foot fracture

-

Forfar are set to be without new signing Dale Hilson for several weeks, manager Jim Weir has revealed.

It is another blow for the Loons, who certainly haven’t had their injury troubles to seek over the last couple of months.

“Dale came off the bench for us in the second half against Raith Rovers last week and he felt his foot afterwards,” said Weir.

“He’s gone for an X-ray this week and it has revealed that he’s had a fracture in his foot, which is starting to heal. He’ll be in a boot for a couple of weeks and hopefully he should be OK to come back into training after that.”

Weir’s attacking options against Albion Rovers today will be David Cox, Josh Peters, Matthew Aitken and Dylan Easton after Ousman See sealed a move to Berwick Rangers yesterday.

The Edinburgh-based striker arrived at Station Park in the summer from Edinburgh City but failed to hold down a regular starting slot with the Loons, scoring only one goal.

Defender Andy Munro returns after his loan spell at Clyde.

Weir is fully aware of the significance of today’s clash with Rovers. As well as possibly drawing them level with Queen’s Park, a win would also drag their opponents into the relegation mix.

He said: “We know this is a real opportunity for us. We’ve got to win for our confidence and to give ourselves a chance of staying in touch with a few teams. It’s a must-win game.

“We competed really well for long spells against the team at the top of the league. To get nothing from that match and the Arbroath one was really harsh on the players.

“Albion Rovers have improved recently but the players will know how important this game is for us. The more teams we can get involved at the bottom of the league, the better.”
