Menzieshill II looking good

-

The first two pool matches in National League Division 2 will be played at Bell’s Sports Centre, Perth, today, writes our men’s hockey correspondent.

Menzieshill II, who carry forward nine points, will be confident of beating Western Wildcats and Inverleith II.

Wanderers II need two wins if they are to avoid the relegation matches which would otherwise follow.

They must be favourites to beat Falkirk in their opening match, but the real test will be against Uddingston.

Uddingston carry forward six points from the league stage, while Wanderers II have three.

Carnegie carry forward three victories and so must be confident of a semi-final place, which falls to the top two in each pool.

The third of the pool matches is on January 20.

Perthshire lead the way in Division 3 on the same points as Kelburne II but with a game in hand.

Monarchs face Menzieshill III, who are well placed in third and will expect to defeat Granite City Wanderers in their second match.

Harris must be at their best to overcome Aberdeen Grammar, currently a point better off.
