COLLISTON. The Christmas party was in Colliston Village Hall, with entertainm­ent by Joe Wishart. Competitio­ns: shortbread – 1 E Bowman, 2 P Hamilton, 3 L Aitken; tree decoration – 1 H Kelly, 2 S Smith, 3 A Thomson; candle decoration – 1 N Myles, 2 L Aitken, 3 E Milne.

CORTACHY. Moira Ronan welcomed members and Ella Grant from Memus and Fern WRI to the Christmas party. Gloria Mitchell introduced Caroline Smith who sang. Competitio­ns: tree decoration – 1 P Paton, 2 E Mckay, 3 S Boath; cordial – 1 M Ronan, 2 M Mackie, 3 P Paton; flower of the month – 1 M Mackie, 2 P Paton.

INVERARITY. President June Richardson welcomed members to the Burns themed evening. Ian Duncan spoke about Scotland at the time of Burns. Competitio­ns: cranachan – 1 R Keith; 2 J Richardson; flower of month – R Keith.

INVERKEILO­R. Members enjoyed a Christmas meal at the George Hotel, Montrose, followed by a quiz provided by Glynis Dickin.

KILRY. Members had their Christmas lunch at Strathmore golf centre. Competitio­n: small decoration – 1 M Darroch, 2 P Donaldson, 3 J Mcfarlane.

KIRRIEMUIR. Vice-president Dianne Stout welcomed members and introduced Jim Smith and his wife, Muriel. Jim spoke about the life and times of Robert Burns. Competitio­ns: pancakes – 1 C Brown, 2 L Wells, 3 P Paterson; flower of the month – 1 C Brown, 2 A Morrall, 3 M Norcross.

LOGIE PERT. Members went to Pitlochry Theatre to see Singing in the Rain, followed by a meal at the Red House Hotel.

MEMUS and FERN. Elsie Nicoll opened the Christmas meeting by welcoming all the members to Kirriemuir Golf Club for a meal.

MENMUIR. After a meal at the Old Bakehouse, members visited the pantomime at Brechin City Hall. Competitio­n: most “Christmass­y bling” outfit or accessory – 1 W Warden, 2 S Bennet, 3 M Anderson.

MONIKIE and NEWBIGGING. Joyce Ramsay and Friends sang. Competitio­ns: potato soup – 1 E Millar, 2 L Johnston, 3 M Whyte; flower of the month – M Bowman.

NEWTYLE. Anne Steel shared her skills in floral art and Frances Gibb read poetry. Competitio­ns: coconut ice – 1 J Fotheringh­am, 2 V Rennie,

3 J Guy; gift bag – 1 J Fotheringh­am, 2 V Rennie, 3 J Guy; black pudding Scotch egg – 1 V Rennie, 2 J Fotheringh­am, 3 K Mcinnes; Aran headband – 1 J Guy, 2 J Fotheringh­am, 3 C Wilson.

NORTHMUIR. Members enjoyed a Christmas buffet by Alison Beattie followed by entertainm­ent from Free Wheelin’. A quiz was won by Grace Aitchison who received a hamper. Competitio­ns: coconut ice – 1 E Dickens, 2 J Brown,

3 J Scrymgeour; flower of the month – 1 M Steele, I Mackie and E Crammond.

STRATHMART­INE. President Margaret Kennedy welcomed members to the Christmas party and introduced Hazel Alexander, who demonstrat­ed decoration­s made from household items. Competitio­ns: gift-wrapped bottle – 1 I Hewitt, 2 I Dodds, 3 M Kelly; flower from the garden – 1 I Dodds, 2 K Allardyce, 3 B Chalmers.

STRACATHRO. Members had a Christmas meal at the Panmure Hotel, Edzell. Competitio­n: wrapped parcel – 1 A Strachan, 2 A Leiper, 3 M Finnie. A collection was taken for Maggie’s Centre in Dundee.
