Kane breaks club scoring record in Spurs win

-

Harry Kane scored twice on Saturday to become Tottenham’s all-time leading Premier League scorer as Everton were swept aside 4-0 at Wembley.

Everton gave Turkish striker Cenk Tosun a debut following his arrival from Besiktas but it was Spurs who took the lead in 27 minutes through Son Heungmin, who then did superbly to set up Kane to make it 2-0 soon after half-time.

The influential South Korean hit the woodwork before Kane chalked up his 98th Premier League goal – passing Teddy Sheringham’s club record – when he scuffed the ball in at the back post on the hour.

Kane, who last month broke Alan Shearer’s record for the most Premier League goals in a calendar year, has now netted 20 league goals this season.

Christian Eriksen wrapped up an impressive Spurs win after 82 minutes.

Chelsea missed the chance to move into second place after 10-man Leicester battled to a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge, the hosts’ third 0-0 draw in a row in all competitions for the first time in the club’s history.

The Foxes were down to 10 men in the 68th minute when Ben Chilwell picked up two quick bookings, but Antonio Conte’s men were left frustrated.

David Moyes’s West Ham romped to a 4-1 victory at Huddersfield while Crystal Palace continued their revival under Roy Hodgson with a 1-0 win over Burnley at Selhurst Park.

Watford snatched a 2-2 draw against Southampton at Vicarage Road with a controversial late goal from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Newcastle drew 1-1 with bottom club Swansea.
