Drama society’s call for members
Forfar Dramatic Society is appealing to anyone with an interest in theatre, both on and off stage, to step in to the limelight.
It is hoping to bolster its numbers after a decline in membership.
The group will host an open evening at its newly-refurbished performance space at Studio 132 in East High Street on Tuesday at 7.30pm.
The society has been in existence for 87 years and has presented a wide and varied selection of plays.
Everything from classic dramas to modern comedies has been staged in either the Reid Hall, Lochside Leisure Centre or, more recently in Studio 132.
As well as inviting budding thespians to join, the group is hoping to find candidates for various other offstage jobs just as vital to its continuing success.
Society members are particularly keen to attract someone who has skills and knowledge of social media.
In addition, it is seeking volunteers to take on the duties of front of house staff, set builders, lighting and sound technicians and administrators.
The society has people who have these skills but members hope to add to their pool with an army of new recruits.
The aim of the open evening is to give prospective members an insight into all of the elements required to keep the club ticking over.
