Motorists warned to be aware of more A90 works at Stonehaven

-

Motorists are being told to be aware that a short section of the B979 Netherley Road, between the new A90 southbound slip road and the Mains of Ury Junction, is expected to close from around 8pm tomorrow until 6am on Monday.

The same works were rescheduled from last weekend, as part of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/ Balmedie to Tipperty (AWPR/ B-T) project.

This closure will allow the contractor to realign the A90 northbound slip roads and carry out surfacing works as it continues to build the roundabout which will form part of the new Stonehaven Junction.

Diversions will be signposted. Access to the A90 via the new southbound slip road will be available from Stonehaven during these closures.

However, anyone wanting to access the A90 southbound from the B979 north of the closure should follow the diversion.

There will be no direct access for pedestrians or cyclists, though the contractor will have arrangements in place to transfer them to the other side of the closure via the diversion.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said: “The contractor has been working closely with Police Scotland and the local authorities to ensure anyone who needs to use this section of the B979 Netherley Road this weekend has an alternative available.

“These works have been planned to take place at a time when traffic will be quieter to help minimise the impact.

“However, road users who would normally use this route should plan their journeys in advance so that they can reach their destination on time.”
