Dundee High swept aside by leaders

-

The weather put paid to the BT National 2 matches between Peebles and Howe of Fife and the clash at Old Anniesland between GHK and Kirkcaldy.

In BT National 3, Perthshire were due to meet Glasgow Accies just over the fence from the Kirkcaldy match, so it was no surprise that it too fell foul of the snow and ice.

That left only the meeting at Raeburn Place between BT National 1 leaders Edinburgh Accies and Dundee High Rugby and a pretty one-sided affair it turned out to be.

By half-time, Accies had five converted tries and the bonus point in the bag with only one counter from the Dundee side and, at 35-5, there was no way the visitors were going to come back.

Accies notched tries from Luther Hirini, Ronan Seydak, Callum Black, Robin Snape and Neil Armstrong with Richard Mills converting the lot.

The only riposte from Dundee High was an Ian Mcnamara try late in the half.

Shaun Gunn went in for the only try of the second half giving Accies a considerably bigger win than they had achieved at Mayfield in October when they came away with a 38-21 result.

Colin Sangster’s Dundee still hold on to sixth spot in the table and have a chance to climb this Saturday when GHA visit Mayfield.

If the hosts can get anywhere near the 34-12 win they had at Braidholm, they could leapfrog their opponents who currently head them by two points in the league.
