Four-goal blast sees Dons sweep past St Mirren
Aberdeen, runners-up to Celtic at Hampden last year, made light work of Championship leaders St Mirren as Ryan Christie scored twice in a 4-1 victory.
An early Adam Rooney penalty nudged the Dons ahead before Christie netted either side of Gavin Reilly’s strike for the visitors.
Gary Mackay-steven added a stunning fourth after the interval for Aberdeen as their top flight class told against the Buddies.
Motherwell earned derby bragging rights as they beat Hamilton 2-0 at Fir Park thanks to a fourth-minute Scott Mcmann own goal and Craig Tanner’s 35th-minute penalty.
Lee Erwin’s 88th-minute penalty gave Kilmarnock a 1-0 win over Ross County, with the spot-kick awarded after Tim Chow was sent off for bringing down Rory Mckenzie.
Connor Sammon scored both goals for Partick Thistle in a 2-1 victory at Queen of the South, whose reply came from Ross Fergusson.
Saturday’s games between Albion Rovers and St Johnstone, Livingston v Falkirk and Peterhead v Dumbarton were all postponed, with Rangers’ trip to Fraserburgh yesterday also called off after the Bellslea Park pitch failed an inspection.
Fraserburgh announced the postponement on Facebook, saying the game would now be played on Wednesday January 31.
Saints’ visit to Coatbridge has been rearranged for tomorrow night.
More than 20 volunteers turned up at Cliftonhill from 8am on Saturday to help clear snow, but the pitch was too hard underneath and it failed an inspection.
The rescheduled tie means Saints’ league encounter at Kilmarnock will have to find a new date.
