Rogers in goal for Dons

-

Danny Rogers will deputise in goal for Aberdeen against Kilmarnock today after Joe Lewis was ruled out for the foreseeable future.

Lewis suffered cartilage damage at Ibrox on Wednesday as he collided with team-mate Anthony O’connor while bringing down Rangers’ Josh Windass for a late penalty. He will undergo surgery early next week.

Chidiebere Nwakali could finally make his Dons debut, with the club hopeful the paperwork required to complete the Manchester City loanee’s international clearance will go through in time for him to face Killie.

Derek Mcinnes may be eyeing up a place in his Aberdeen side for Michael Devlin next season but the new Dons recruit has not given up hope he could make his debut this term.

The centre-back has penned a threeand-a-half-year contract with the Pittodrie outfit after Hamilton accepted an undisclosed fee.

But Red Army will have to wait to see the former Accies skipper in action as Devlin continues to battle back from a serious knee injury suffered last May.

Goalkeeper Cammy Bell is the only confirmed absentee for Kilmarnock as they head to Pittodrie.

The stand-in stopper was due to start last week’s William Hill Scottish Cup fourth-round tie against Ross County but had to be replaced by Jamie Macdonald after he aggravated an old knee injury.

Number one Macdonald will again be in goal to face the Dons, with youngster Curtis Lyle providing cover off the bench.
