Fifers looking to get back to winning ways

-

East Fife manager Darren Young is hoping the addition of four new players to his squad will help the Bayview men return to winning ways at Stranraer.

Young has brought in defender Adam Livingston from Motherwell and Livingston midfielder Matthew Knox on loan, as well as recruiting former Celtic player Connor Mcmanus and striker Robert Jones.

He said: “There is a freshness about the squad now and heightened competition for places, which is something we have not had so far.

“Everyone now knows that I have more options at my disposal and hopefully that will lead to fewer mistakes and more wins.

“The four new guys are in my thoughts for Stranraer but I am not sure how many of them will start.

“A couple of them have good experience whereas Robert has never been involved in senior football.

“He is striker who is well over 6ft tall, is big and powerful and will be a real handful for defences.”

Young knows that whatever side he chooses will need to be on top form to see off Stranraer.

He explained: “They have regrouped really well after losing a lot of players in early January.

“They are on a high just now after winning three games in a row and to do anything against them we need to do better at both ends of the park.

“We again missed chances against Forfar last weekend and also lost a goal from a corner.

“It was a ridiculous goal and I counted three mistakes at it.

“We cannot keep doing that.” Aaron Dunsmore returns after suspension – however, Craig Thomson is out with a hand injury with Mark Docherty and Kyle Wilkie are both rated as extremely doubtful.
