Smarting Blue Brazil hope to get first win in six months

-

Cowdenbeath head to Annan still smarting over their 1-0 loss to Stirling Albion in midweek.

The Central Park players were back in training on Thursday as they look to secure their first win in nearly six months, with manager Gary Bollan determined the improvement he has seen since he came in is rewarded.

He said: “We faced Annan in my first game in charge back in November and there was not a lot between the teams.

“I felt that we could have won and not drawn that game.”

He added: “They had been on a good run up until losing last weekend at Edinburgh City and dropping out of the top four.

“Like us they will be looking to bounce back.”

Bollan is hoping the frustration felt by the Fifers will be used as motivation to get the three points at Galabank.

He added: “We should have taken something from the game at Forthbank – the management team were disappointed at not getting at least a point and the players shared in that disappointment as well.”

He continued: “We have spent hours on the training pitch working on how to deal with crosses into the box and at training everyone has been great.

“However, when we took that work into a game situation we did not replicate it and lost a sloppy goal.

“It was not to be, and while it was another disappointing result we can take positives from the game and build on them.

“We know that we are nine points behind at the bottom of the table but if we can start winning games then anything is possible.”

Player/assistant manager Mark Fotheringham is suspended and keeper Joe Mcgovern remains injured.
