Spiders boss looking for reaction for Camelon tie

- The Courier & Advertiser

Downfield manager Paul Marr will be hoping for a reaction from his side following last week’s thumping at Wishaw as they welcome Super League side Camelon to Downfield Park for a DJ Laing East of Scotland Cup second round tie.

Marr is without Marc O’leary but otherwise has a full squad available.

The Spiders have placed Keiran Small and Ryan Winters on the transfer list and interested parties should contact the manager on 07703601635

Luncarty’s game with Premier League promotion hopefuls Fauldhouse United has been switched to Brownlands Park with Parkview unplayable.

Jonny Kelly’s side drew 2-2 with Violet last weekend and will be hoping his side are more decisive in front of goal.

Should Carnoustie’s game at Kilsyth and Kirriemuir Thistle’s game at home to Dunbar United be postponed then the Gowfers will play Kirrie at Laing Park in the East of Scotland Cup

In the V Tech SMT Fife and Lothians Cup, Glenrothes face a tricky second round trip to play Blackburn United.

United were dumped out of the Scottish Junior Cup last weekend by Linlithgow Rose but will fancy their chances against Willie Campbell’s side.

Dion Gear misses the game due to work commitments and Craig Wallace is continuing with his rehab but otherwise Glens head south with a full squad.

Lochgelly Albert manager Steven Kowbel is hoping his side replicate the second-half performance from last week as they host Tranent at Gardiners Park.

Shaun Hunter and Michael Perrie, who impressed on his debut last week, are cup-tied but Kowbel is able to bring back Iain Millar and John Johnstone.

Kowbel said: “We’re looking forward to the challenge that Tranent will present and we know that we will have to be at our best.”

Thornton Hibs travel to take on Super League Sauchie at Beechwood Park.

The Fife side sit in the middle of the Premier League table and will hope that their free-flowing football will cause a problem for their higher league opponents.

Hibs boss Craig Gilbert has a couple of injury worries but expects to have a full squad available.

Hill of Beath Hawthorn received a boost ahead of their third round trip to Arniston Rangers with the signing of former St Andrews United skipper Ricky Patrick from Dundonald Bluebell.

Patrick had been on loan at Tayport but Haws boss Kevin Fotheringham swooped quickly when that deal came to an end. Patrick misses the game as he has already played in the competition for Dundonald.

Rikki Dair and Lee Reid are out injured and Lea Schiavone is unavailable, but Calum Adamson returns.

There will be a reunion at the Canniepairt when Tayport host Brechin Vics in the GA Engineering Cup second round.

Assistant manager Daryn Smith was part of Vics manager Phil Mcguire’s coaching team at St Andrews.

However, Smith insists friendships count for nothing when the whistle blows. He said: “Friendships will be put aside on Saturday as we want to keep a winning mentality.”

The visitors are struggling, with six players out through injury or cup-tied and Mcguire will need to include a number of youngsters.
