CARNOUSTIE: A petanque club is moving forward after office-bearers were elected at an inaugural meeting.

Carnoustie Petanque Club will play on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 2pm and 4pm, and on Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm when the clocks change.

It is situated in the grounds of the Aboukir Hotel, Ireland Street.

Anyone who would like to give the sport a try is welcome to go along or contact Harry Ritchie on 01241 852281.

FORFAR: Forfar OAP Associatio­n is holding a bingo tea on Saturday at the OAP Hall on Chapel Street.

Doors open at 1pm, with eyes down at 1.30pm. Entry is £1. TALK: A talk by author Craig Robertson in Mearns Library, Laurenceki­rk, on March 1 has been postponed.

A new date has yet to be arranged.

NATIONAL TRUST: Angus Members’ Centre of the National Trust for Scotland is hosting a talk on the Ancient Pinewoods of Scotland.

It is by Clifton Bain, director of the IUCN UK Peatland programme and previously with the RSPB.

The talk is in the Guide Hall, Forfar, at 2.30pm tomorrow.

It is open to all, with no booking necessary.

Admission costs £4 and includes light refreshmen­ts after the meeting.
