MONIFIETH Monifieth Local History Society members Marianna Buultljens and Margaret Copland will host an illustrate­d quiz next Thursday at 2pm in the Monifieth Community Cabin.

The ‘What do you know about Monifieth?’ quiz will replace the scheduled speaker.

Entry, £3 for members or £4 for non members, includes afternoon tea.

KIRRIEMUIR

Muriel Farquharso­n gave a talk to Kirriemuir Church Guild about the humour of young children.

The next meeting will be on February 27 with a talk by Alison Waugh on ecumenical accompanim­ent in Palestine.

CARNOUSTIE

The next meeting of Carnoustie Recorded Music Circle takes place tonight when John Maidment will play A Little Night Music, an anthology of classical music inspired by the night.

The meeting in the Newton Hall, Carnoustie Panbride Church, Arbroath Road, begins at 7.30pm.

Messy Church at the Lowson Memorial Parish Church, Forfar, is tomorrow at 9.30am for a 10am start.

For an hour, everyone can enjoy story telling, singing, games and craft work on the theme of love.

Forfar and District Historical Society continues its spring session of meetings in the East and Old Parish Church Hall, Chapel Street, at 7.30pm on Thursday March 1, when Major Ronnie Proctor will give a talk entitled, The Black Watch.

New members of the society will be welcome, and nonmembers are invited to attend any talks throughout the session for a small charge.
