Fife Flyers last night confirmed the signing of Canadian forward Dan Correale and he goes straight into the team for tonight’s clash at Braehead Clan.

The British Columbia native played collegiate hockey at the University of New Hampshire and broke into professional hockey in 2016 when he signed with Missouri Mavericks in the East Coast Hockey League.

The 26-year-old began the season with the Mavericks but moved on to ice with IPK in the Finnish Mestis league last month.

Flyers’ coach Todd Dutiaume said: “It was important that we got someone in quickly in order to help the team at this time of the season as our schedule really picks up.

“Dan not only comes with good references, but he fits the type of player that we have brought into the club this season. His work ethic and speed on the ice will make him a hit with the fans and he is more than capable of putting up numbers offensively.

“With the uncertainty around Brady Ramsay, we are pleased to be able to bring Dan in quickly, initially on a temporary basis, and he will make his debut this weekend.”

Flyers head west tonight seeking to continue their run of fine form over Braehead.

Victory would enhance the Kirkcaldy side’s standing in the race for Gardiner Conference success and also lift them to fourth place in the Elite League.

Flyers have already won twice at Braehead in the league this season.

Fife won 7-1 on their first visit and 4-1 on the second while the Kirkcaldy club have also recorded a clean sweep over Clan on home ice. A 5-1 scoreline started an eight-point run and was followed by a 5-2 win, a 3-2 overtime success and another 5-2 success.
