ROCKTALK GIG GUIDE

-

Dundee Acoustic Music Club begins its 2018 live music sessions with what should be a cracking show by Celtic jazz guitarist Tony Mcmanus this weekend.

Tony is one of the world’s premier Celtic fingerstyle guitarists, so much so that his virtuosity prompted guitar manufacturer Paul Reed Smith (PRS) to create a Mcmanus signature model, a distinction he shares with such luminaries as rocker Carlos Santana, Ted Nugent and Orianthi Panagaris.

He has performed with jazz rock guitarist John Mcglaughlin, mandolinist Mike Marshall and bluegrass musician Ricky Skaggs, to name but a few.

Tony performs at the Roseangle Arts Cafe from 2pm on Sunday, February 18.

Tickets are available from Groucho’s or from www. brownpapertickets.com

Dundee promoters Make That A Take present a great four-band bill at Conroy’s Basement tomorrow night.

Scottish-american band The Union Ares play their first-ever show in Dundee as headliners at the Meadowside venue.

The band bring unique sparkling transatlantic emocore mastery from ex-members of New York post-hardcore/indie punks Kolya and current members of ecossemo’s beloved Carson Wells.

They’re supported by Dundee’s perennial keepers of the ecossemo flame, Kaddish, who return to the basement with their latest batch of hardcore brilliance, some of them songs which will make up their forthcoming third record. kaddishuk.bandcamp.com Also appearing on the bill are Please, Believe!, who bring searing, intense and furiously passionate post-hardcore of the finest pedigree.

The forthcoming ...In Potential LP is a raging tour de force, as fragile as it is ferocious.

Last but not least Draws Creature Mask from Perth bring majestic introspective and intricate indie/alternative sounds to their first MTAT show and come laden with harmonies, arpeggiated guitars and soaring mournful violins. Check them out at drawscreaturemask. bandcamp.com
