Mckenna insists focus is solely on Aberdeen

-

Highly-rated defender Scott Mckenna insists his focus is solely on Aberdeen, despite being linked with a move away last month.

The 21-year-old was subject to several bids from Hull in the transfer window but the Dons rejected all offers to keep hold of their centre-back.

It has been an impressive first full season in the Ladbrokes Premiership for Mckenna, who has earned rave reviews and been talked about as a future Scotland player after breaking into the Aberdeen team.

However, he is refusing to get carried away by off-field talk.

“It’s good that there is praise and people speaking about you,” he said ahead of his side’s trip to face Hibernian.

“But you have just got to put that to one side and concentrate on yourself.”

Stevie May is once again hoping to make his Aberdeen return against Hibernian today.

The striker has been struggling with an ankle injury and was supposed to make his return in the William Hill Scottish Cup win over Dundee United on Sunday, but Derek Mcinnes opted to give him several days of extra training instead.

Graeme Shinnie will be suspended for the trip to Edinburgh, while Joe Lewis (knee) is a long-term absentee.

Meanwhile Paul Hanlon, Darren Mcgregor and Marvin Bartley have returned to training following knocks and are expected to feature at Easter Road.

Steven Whittaker (pelvis), David Gray (achilles) and Ross Laidlaw (shoulder) remain longer-term absentees, while Vykintas Slivka is also still out, as is Brandon Barker (hamstring).
