In Order of Disappeara­nce (BBC4, 10pm-11.50pm)

Premiere. A snow plough driver refuses to believe that his son’s death was caused by a heroin overdose, and goes in search of his killers. His investigat­ion leads to him becoming a feared vigilante and sparking off a gang war. Dark comedy thriller, starring Stellan Skarsgard. thecourier­magazine go down well with viewers. The Shape of Water, Guillermo del Toro’s offbeat romance, leads the way with 12 nomination­s, but it has some stiff opposition from the likes of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and Call Me By Your Name. The sentimenta­l may hope that Daniel Day-lewis wins Best Actor for his final film role in Phantom Thread.

The First Brit: Secrets of the 10,000 Year Old Man (Channel 4, 8pm-9pm)

Documentar­y following scientists at the Natural History Museum and University College London studying Britain’s oldest human remains. The complete skeleton was unearthed in Gough’s Cave in Cheddar Gorge, Somerset, more than 100 years previously.

Father Ted

Clare Grogan guest stars as a feminist protest singer who visits Craggy Island and talks gormless Dougal into giving her the parochial house while Ted is out judging a local beauty contest. Comedy, starring Dermot Morgan, Ardal O’hanlon, Frank Kelly and Pauline Mclynn.
