Little pleasure at Perth Leisure Pool

-

Sir, – I am writing on the back of a recent visit to Perth swimming pool on Sunday February 18 with my husband and two young children, aged 7 and 5.

The reception area of the leisure centre is very welcoming and friendly but head down stairs to the changing rooms and it’s a different world entirely. They are filthy – you want to wipe your shoes on your way out!

There is water on the floor (not mopped up) bits of dirt, fluff, hair and goodness knows what else, then you access the changing rooms themselves and they are just as bad if not worse.

Walk around towards the showers and the area there is not much better. It was disgusting and not what one would expect from such a facility – especially when they are not backwards in coming forwards with the prices that they charge to use the facilities. This might not have been as bad if there were no staff around but there was more than enough staff there, who could all have been doing there bit.

This isn’t a one-off, either, as I wrote to the leisure company last year regarding the same issues and was fobbed off with the fact that I had visited when it had been a holiday, therefore the centre was a bit more busy than usual.

Sorry, to me this is not an excuse. They are more than aware of when there is a school holiday and should be planning ahead so they are providing a warm, clean and inviting environment for young and old alike to enjoy.

In addition, none of the staff working in and around the changing rooms seemed to have a clue what they were actually there for... giving out wrong-coloured wrist bands and allowing what appeared to be far too many people in the pool at any one time.

We used to love taking our kids to this pool but will not be in a hurry to go back any time soon and will definitely not be recommending this pool to our family and friends. Stacey Wood.
