Local artists certainly delivered the feelgood factor

-

Kirriemuir’s second Feel Good Festival has delivered lasting enjoyment for those popping into a town gallery after weekend visitors rose to the challenge of showing off their own artistic talents.

As one of several participating venues throughout the town, Bank Street Gallery hosted an exhibition by young students of the Fairlie House Community art group, featuring work across many mediums by around a dozen contributors with an average age of 15.

Students Croy Langlands and Rachael Macintosh, who man the gallery at weekends, encouraged visitor involvement in a bit of doodling or origami.

Gallery owner Susie Clark said the pair chatted to visitors and the early indications were that the event was enjoyed by all.

The young artists’ exhibition runs until Sunday, and the success of the wider event has also been hailed by Kirriemuir SNP councillor Julie Bell, who praised the organising team for pulling together the varied programme.

“The vibe was fantastic,” she said.

“I really enjoyed talking to the stall holders, including local small businesses like soap makers, therapists, sustainable period products, wool producers fair traders and crafters.

“The event highlighted how much talent, creativity, diversity and energy there is locally.

“I’m a huge supporter of campaigns such as the #keepscotlandthebrand campaign and, of course, of #Shopeatthinklocal and this type of event is exactly what it’s all about,” added Ms Bell.
