School choirs rural class winners Colliston Primary with the Frank and Jean Muir Trophy at Arbroath and District Music Festival.

MUSIC: Choir categories hit but full and vibrant brass competitio­n goes ahead

The tail end of the ‘Beast from the East’ hit entries at the third day of the 86th Arbroath and District Music Festival.

Continuing adverse weather forced the cancellati­on of some transport to the Webster Memorial Theatre.

Due to safety concerns, Stagecoach could not provide bus transport for the school choirs so several schools were unable to perform. All afternoon classes were cancelled but a small number of choirs were able to compete in the morning.

A full and vibrant brass competitio­n took place in the assembly room. Results:
