Cases before Sheriff Mckay

-

A Perthshire man convicted at trial of offences which happened following the breakdown of his relationship has been fined £500.

Gavin Mcdonald, 37, of Commercial Street, Alyth, had been ordered to be of good behaviour.

He was previously found guilty of assaulting another male and breaching the peace on October 26 last year on the A932 in Angus.

Forfar Sheriff Court heard the warehouse manager and his former partner were now on civil terms.

However, Mcdonald’s solicitor admitted the incident had been an “unpleasant set of circumstances”.

Sheriff Alison Mckay told the accused: “I heard the evidence in this case and your behaviour was unacceptable.

“Your solicitor has correctly pointed out that what happened did not bring credit to anyone involved in this.”

Other cases heard at Forfar Sheriff Court:

Emma Hemphill, 35, of Queen Street, Montrose, was fined £300.

She admitted possessing heroin on August 8 last year.

The court heard the accused was caught with under half a gram of the drug.

The value of the drug was almost £50.

Hemphill’s solicitor said his client was encountering personal difficulties at the time of the offence and had “no recollection of the incident whatsoever”.
