Talk on days of the drovers revealed in long-lost diaries

-

The next afternoon talk for the Angus Members’ Centre of the National Trust for Scotland is on Thursday at 2.30pm in the Guide Hall, Myre Car Park, Forfar.

The talk’s title is Quite Happy In Interesting Times: environmental, social and cultural change in 19th Century Scotland through the eyes of James Fyffe cattle-dealer.

It will be given by Professor Richard Oram, dean of arts and humanities and professor of environmental and medieval history at Stirling University.

He was involved in publishing diaries of a young Angus cattle dealer from the middle of the 19th Century, which were found in a cupboard in the Old Parish Church in Kirriemuir in the 1960s.
