Aitken must build confidence ahead of Commonwealth Games
Montrose squash player Lisa Aitken admits she is lacking in confidence ahead of next month’s Commonwealth Games after losing a rollercoaster of a semi-final at the North of Scotland Open in Aberdeen on Saturday.
The number one appeared to be on her way out when London youngster Kace Bartley took the first two games, but Aitken dug in and levelled at 2-2.
The 28-year-old then led the decider 7-4, only for thirdseeded Bartley to suddenly find another gear and power through 11-8, 11-6, 1-11, 7-11, 11-8.
“I’m going through a spell of no self-confidence and I need to work it out before the Games,” conceded Aitken.
