Lichties boss happy to stay in Gayfield stand

-

Arbroath boss Dick Campbell has completed the five-match touchline ban imposed on him by the SFA for charging on to the pitch in a cup tie against Ayr but will remain in the Gayfield stand when the Honest Men visit on league business tonight.

Campbell said: “I have served my ban but I will remain where I have been. I have enjoyed sitting in the stand and no more so than on Saturday when we put on a great performance against Forfar to win 2-0.

“It was the perfect response to the disappointing display at Alloa in midweek and puts us in a good place ahead of facing Ayr. We controlled large parts of the game and limited Forfar to very few openings.”

Campbell added: “Ayr are involved in a race for the title with Raith Rovers and we are sitting third 12 points behind them. We will not give anything up but our focus in the remaining nine games is to pick up as many points as possible and make sure that we make the play-offs.

“They will be on a high after defeating Raith at the weekend and we know that they are a side who attack you all the time when their confidence is up.

“However, we have given them problems in the past and have won twice at their place this season and will look to give them problems again.”

“This is a big game for both teams as they need a win for their title hopes and we need a win for our own ambitions.”

Steven Doris remains out after knee surgery and Michael Mckenna is a major injury doubt. Gavin Swankie is available again.

Ayr goal-grabber Lawrence Shankland is available despite suffering a cut head against the Kirkcaldy men and Mark Kerr should shake off a knock to play.

Paddy Boyle has joined Chris Higgins on the sidelines.
