-

Dundee will again host the UK’S biggest multi-venue dance music event – this time welcoming its largest-ever gathering of DJS.

The Dundee Dance Event (DDE), taking place on Sunday May 6, will this year celebrate its 20th anniversary with its biggest event yet.

More than 160 DJS will perform in 28 venues for a 13-hour house music marathon. Last year’s event saw around 8,000 people attend with this year’s expected to attract even more enthusiasts.

The festival has become a huge part of the country’s dance scene with revellers arriving from all over the UK for the all-day party.

DJS and promoters from every Scottish city will again be represented at the event, as well as DJS from Italy, Spain and New York giving the DDE an international flavour this year.

Myroslaw Bytz, Richie Dio, Andrew Newhouse and Paula Baeza are all well-known names at some of the biggest clubs in New York. They are stopping off at DDE as part of a European tour with their next date being in Berlin.

Organiser Mike Mcdonald said: “The DDE seems to have cemented its place in the diaries of local partygoers and is an annual pilgrimage now.

“I can’t believe an event I organised for me and few DJ pals 20 years ago has turned into such a big day out for dance music lovers, it’s the ultimate Sunday sesh with the emphasis on just having a great day out.”

DUSA The Union hosts the closing party with another capacity crowd expected.

This year’s charity beneficiary will bethe ARCHIE Foundation, the charity for Tayside Children’s Hospital.

Last year, the festival raised £1,676 for Motor Neurone Disease Scotland.
